POISON TO ROCK MUSIKFEST 2008 AUG. 5

BETHLEHEM, PA—The RiverPlace main stage at Musikfest 2008 will rock with the sounds of Poison on Tuesday, Aug. 5 at 8:30 p.m.

Formed in 1984, Poison features vocalist Bret Michaels, guitarist C.C. Deville, drummer Rikki Rockett and bassist Bobby Dall. The band, which is known for its power ballads and rocking hits, was signed to Enigma Records in 1986 and released its debut album, “Look What the Cat Dragged In,” soon after.

Over the next few years, Poison’s popularity grew rapidly. Following the release of its album “Open Up and Say…Ahhh!,” songs such as “Fallen Angel,” “Nothin’ But a Good Time” and “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” instantly became classics. Other hits include “Unskinny Bop,” “Something to Believe In” and “Your Mama Don’t Dance.”

During its career, Poison has produced four Billboard Top 10 albums. Its latest CD, “POISON'D!,” was released in June 2007 and features the group’s takes on classics by The Rolling Stones, The Cars, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, David Bowie and other legendary artists. Lead singer Michaels is also starring in the second season of his reality show, “Rock of Love,” on VH1.

Media sponsor for the Poison show is 95.1 WZZO. Tickets for the concert are $22-$44. They will go on sale in April, with members of the new ArtsQuest membership program having the first opportunity to purchase tickets. On-sale dates are 10 a.m. April 14-16 to ArtsQuest members, 10 a.m. April 17 to Musikfest sponsors and their employees and 10 a.m. April 18 to the public.
