Artist Bio

The members of the Marelene Gilley Swingtet are:

Alan Gaumer:
Guest trumpeter Alan Gaumer has performed with a long list of well known jazz personalities including Randy Brecker, Phil Woods, Al Cohn, Bob Dorough, Urbie Green, Vic Jurris and Dave Leonhardt.

Jennifer (Gilley) Fleschner:
It was 24 years ago, when her mother, Marlene Gilley was employed at Musikfest that the act booked at Liederplatz, on Monday, August 19, 1985 as "Broadway's Greatest Songs" canceled.  With less than two weeks notice, the female performer who had acted in summer stock throughout the northeast, sung on Broadway in "Godspell" and cabaret performances in New York City, canceled because she got a part on Broadway.

Jennifer Gilley, a 19 year old student at NYU was asked to fill in.  In less than a dozen days, she worked with Dr. Craig Shuler, Juilliard composer, conductor and pianist, and memorized more than three dozen tunes. Musikfest founder, Jeff Parks was so grateful, he introduced her that night. Now from South Florida, we welcome her home for this evening's performance.

Marlene Gilley:
Gilley has performed throughout the Lehigh Valley including Musikfest and First Night Bethlehem.  Her stylistic influences echo that of Tony Bennett, Harry Connick, Jr., and Diana Krall, as well as inspiration from Carmen McRae, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington and Billie Holiday.
