Moravian College and ArtsQuest Partner to Offer Premium Parking Experience for Musikfest Guests
New Moravian College Lot in Historic District Offers Public Parking in Heart of Festival Grounds
Patrons looking for convenient and close access to all the music, food and fun of Musikfest have a brand-new option this year as Moravian College and ArtsQuest partner to offer a publicly accessible parking lot on the college’s South Campus, located in the heart of the festival grounds. The Moravian College Parking Lot, dubbed Moravian College ParkPlatz, marks the first time ArtsQuest has been able to offer parking to patrons within the North Side of the festival grounds.
Parking on the Moravian College lot is limited to 30 vehicles daily and passes are sold on a first come basis. Each parking pass comes with an official Musikfest 2017 collector’s refillable mug, as well as a Moravian College Koozie. Passes, which cost $25, are available in advance only starting today, July 26, at www.musikfest.org or 610-332-3378.
Access to the Moravian College lot will be via Lehigh Street, just west of the intersection of Lehigh and New Streets. All proceeds from parking pass sales will go to support Musikfest’s 500 free concerts for the region each year.
“Moravian College has a rich history with ArtsQuest dating back to earliest days of Musikfest when people would attend the Candlelight shows in Foy Concert Hall and gather on the lawn behind the college to watch the performances at Kunstplatz,” says Mike Corr, Director of Marketing & Communications at Moravian College. “It’s no secret that parking in downtown Bethlehem during Musikfest can sometimes be a challenge, so we’re pleased to offer this new opportunity for people coming to the festival. Parking in the Moravian lot puts guests only yards from popular venues like Festplatz, Familienplatz and Plaza Tropical.”
Over the past few years, Uber has been a popular option for people arriving and leaving Musikfest and this year the festival has added a new location on the festival’s North Side at Walnut Street, near Red Stag Pub Liederplatz. Other Uber drop-off/pickup points include Old York Road at IBEW Local 375 Volksplatz and Lehigh Street by the Wooden Match on the North Side, as well as the intersection of Second and Founders Way on the SteelStacks Campus.
“Musikfest draws a number of people to downtown Bethlehem every year, so we’re always looking at ways we can add additional parking opportunities to enhance the experience for our guests,” says ArtsQuest COO Curt Mosel. “The additional Uber location and the new Moravian College lot will make it even easier for people to get to the festival this year. We greatly appreciate Moravian College allowing us to use their parking lot during Musikfest and providing us with this new opportunity to raise revenues to support our free music and arts programming.”
One of the largest music festivals in the nation, Musikfest showcases more than 500 performances on 15 stages throughout Bethlehem over 10 days. Dates for the 34th edition of the festival are Aug. 4-13. In addition to the free musical performances, the event also features nearly 60 food vendors, 45 artisans, over a dozen buskers and a diverse array of family programming.
